I remember hearing a song about the letters of the Bible that I heard children sing:
“My B.I.B.L.E now that’s the book for me
I stand alone on the Word of God.
To be sure this a cute and uplifting song that prepares little ones to appreciate the book of books. Many, like myself spend time with this book daily. It is truly like feasting on a special spiritual food that helps restore our souls. But what does make this book so special? Now that is the topic for the ages; however, a little acrostic that is biblically based may help.
It truly is a book of law that leads us to grace, and though we have broken everyone of God’s laws, and we deserve to be held accountable for breaking those laws, once we come to Christ, we do not get the judgment we deserve. Instead we get grace, and the law giver becomes our grace giver. He forgives sin and He miraculously confirms the work of forgiveness by transforming our lives. He liberates us from the power of sin.
This book is inspired: It is God breathed. Check out 2 Timothy 3:16. It’s no wonder when we get into the habit of meditating on and reflecting on this word that it’s like God is breathing life into us. We need this word as much as we need to breathe.
This is a book of light: The Psalmist tells us that “Thy word is a lamp unto our feet and a light for our path. Notice it’s not a light to shine in people’s faces arrogantly. But it’s the old lamp that lights just enough of our journey to keep us on God’s path of sharing life with Him throughout all eternity, and Jesus calls it a narrow way. This light actually lights up our lives so we can walk with the Lord daily.
This book leads you and me. You can see above how this word is intended to lead us and give us God’s guidance each step of the way. The word also tells us, in one of the most well known Psalms, that He leads us in the path of righteousness … in the right way. All too many are stumbling through life trying to figure out right and wrong good and evil without consulting the word. When they do so, they are going the wrong way on The One Way Street.
This word is eternal or everlasting: Many are trying to erase if from our culture and do away with it’s influence. But they will never succeed. Heaven and earth may pass away but God’s word will never pass away. So says the very Son of God, even Jesus. For millennia people have tried to keep God’s word out of the public square, but it’s still here and it will remain.
So embrace the Book of law and grace.
that is Inspired or God breathed
that is a Book that gives us light
It Leads us in the right way
It is Eternal and will not fade.
God Bless You
